Keyvara Privacy Policy

Keyvara is a privacy-first text expansion extension for Google Workspace and supported websites.
Information Keyvara handles
Keyvara stores the following information locally using Chrome Extension Storage:

User-created shortcuts and replacement text

Extension settings and preferences

Shortcut expansion totals

Achievement progress

Google Drive backup preferences
Keyvara temporarily processes text in editable fields to detect shortcut triggers and insert saved text. This processing occurs locally on the user’s device.
Clipboard access, when required for text insertion, is used only to complete the user-requested action. Clipboard contents are not collected by the developer or transmitted to the developer’s servers.
Optional Google Drive backup
Google Drive backup is optional and must be connected by the user.
When enabled, Keyvara uses Google OAuth and the drive.file permission to create and update a recovery file in the user’s own Google Drive. The recovery file may contain:

Achievement progress
Users may create backups manually or enable automatic backups after changes. Keyvara accesses only the Google Drive files it creates.
Drive backup data is transmitted securely using Google’s HTTPS API. Backups are not end-to-end encrypted by Keyvara, so users should avoid storing sensitive personal information in shortcuts.
Disconnecting Google Drive stops future backups. Users may delete the recovery file from their own Google Drive.
Information Keyvara does not collect
Keyvara does not collect or sell:

Browsing history

Location information

Financial or payment information

Health information

Passwords

Document content unrelated to saved shortcuts

Personal communications for advertising or profiling
Keyvara does not operate a developer-controlled server that receives shortcut or achievement data. When Drive backup is enabled, backup data is sent only to the user’s own Google Drive account.
Data sharing and advertising
Keyvara does not sell user data or use it for advertising, profiling, creditworthiness, or unrelated purposes. Data is shared with Google only when necessary to provide the optional Google Drive backup selected by the user.
Keyvara’s use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
User control and retention
Local Keyvara data remains in Chrome Extension Storage until it is removed by the user, cleared from Chrome, or removed with the extension.
Google Drive recovery data remains in the user’s Google Drive until it is overwritten or deleted by the user.
